Transition Minerals is a rapidly emerging critical minerals explorer with significant discoveries of vanadium and rare earths in the northern Barkly region of the Northern Territory. These deposits are interpreted to have developed from regional-scale processes and may provide project life exceeding generations.
The Barkly deposit has one of the highest-known ratios globally of neodymium and praseodymium (key permanent magnet rare earths) to the total concentration of rare earths. It represents a very attractive target for potential exploitation for the global electrification and decarbonisation goals. The rare earths lie only a few metres below the gallium-enriched Barkly vanadium deposit, which presents additional upside to the project’s scope.
The consistency in mineralisation intercepted during initial drilling has compelled the company to advance the initial Mineral Resource through a low-cost, shallow and low-density drilling programme. Parallel metallurgical studies, co-funded by the Northern Territory government, will support the ongoing evolution of the project. The company believes the project represents one of the best regolith-hosted rare earths projects globally, with superior parameters relative to the well-publicised South American deposits, and in a favourable jurisdiction.
